Dairy Free Chocolate Mousse • NO AVOCADO | Healthy treats #4

This Dairy Free Chocolate Mousse is that kind of healthy treat that takes you only a feel minutes to whip up.

The only extra work here is actually having to wait for the coconut cream to chill overnight.
But let’s be honest that this is extra work for your fridge, right? 😁

On the absolute plus side, this recipe is absolutely delicious!

Not even the fussiest of the eaters would think this chocolate mousse is dairy free.
And you can totally adapt it to a vegan version by replacing honey with coconut sugar, that works just as fine. Perfection!

Ingredients
  • 2 cans of coconut cream, chilled overnight
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • ½ cup of cocoa powder
  • A pinch of salt
Directions
  1. Open the coconut cream cans and scoop out only the solid coconut cream into a mixing bowl. Whip it until soft and creamy. Reserve 4 tablespoons of it for later.
  2. Tip: you can use the remaining water in the cans for cooking or smoothies
  3. Add honey, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into 2 serving bowls and keep refrigerated until serving time.
  5. It’s DONE! 🎉
Serve it with one tablespoon of that cream we previously reserved, and garnish with grated dark chocolate.

It’s very common to find recipes of chocolate mousse that use avocado as the base ingredient.

I decided to shake things up a bit and create this version that uses coconut cream as the base instead!

Try it by yourself and you’ll be surprised by how amazing it tastes!

Tip: to make a version of this chocolate mousse that is even more low carb, replace honey with an artificial sweetener of your choice.

Hi there!
My name is Toddy and I’m pleased to meet you. I’m totally crazy about desserts, especially those made of chocolate!

For today’s episode, I invited Handy to prepare a Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) Chocolate Mousse for us.

Ingredients
  • 125g of 85% dark chocolate (you can use any 70%+ chocolate)
  • 125g of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey (optional or add any sweetener you like)
  • 2 eggs (separated)
  • a pinch of salt
Directions
  1. Melt all the chocolate with butter and honey.
    • You can use any technique you are more used to: bain-marie or a microwave.
  2. While the mixture above melts, mix things every 30 seconds.
  3. Add the yolks into the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Using a stand mixer, prepare whipped egg whites and mix everything with a spatula.
  5. Pour the final mixture in small containers and put them in fridge for 4 hours.

Salt & Pepper – entrance.

Salt & Pepper was one of those times when you decide to take the risk and is happy with the result. This little gem is located on a busy street in the suburb of Thera in Santorini. The place seems to be run by a family, food is awesome and the service perfect!

My order

We had just arrived in Santorini and were starving which was perfect to try a few dishes of their menu:

  • Santorini salad – Cherry tomaotes, cucumber, chloro (local white cheese), caper leaves, olives, onion, parsley, and olive oil.
  • Bread for two.
  • Pork souvlaki with pita bread and tzatziki sauce.
  • Free dessert – looks like a chocolate mousse.
