After hiking for 4 hours from Thera to Oia, we decided to have our lunch at Pelekanos. I remember was extremely hot that day and we wanted something refreshing and light for our lunch.

This restaurant was a perfect choice, it is located at the top of a shop and all seats are outdoors, with a beautiful view of the island, its busy streets, and a very fresh atmosphere.

My order

As I said, we wanted to have a super light lunch, and this is what we got:

  • Grilled Halloumi cheese with watermelon and dry fig.
  • Watermelon salad – watermelon cubes and arugula, with feta cheese and fresh mint leaves, sprinkled with grapes syrup and rosewater.
  • Kritharoto with chicken fillet, mushrooms and black truffle oil.

We shared all plates and loved every single bite! That combination of watermelon and halloumi is incredibly good, totally approved by us. Also, the watermelon salad was one of those happy surprises. I wasn’t expecting that at all, in my mind I would have a bed of leaves and a few pieces of watermelon, but tell you what, that was perfect for that hot day.
